Well its still hot. I wasn’t going to complain about the heat because its summer. But we’re in a draught now and this heat is just crazy.
But what better way to beat the heat than to go swimming? We tried a different pool today and were quite pleased! We go to the Middleton pool because its the cheapest option. But it doesn’t open until 1:30, which means we have to wait until after naptime and it ends up being a late trip. We wanted to go swimming last night, but by the time Allie woke up it was just too late.
The Irwin A and Robert D Goodman Aquatic Center in Verona (not to be confused with the Madison pool named after the same people) is a smaller pool, but it wasn’t crowded! Well, it was getting crowded by the time we left at 1:30. But the timing worked out much better to go at 11. Since its so small, we felt fine letting Allie go play without holding onto her the whole time. The bottom of the pool isn’t slipperty and it doesn’t drop off quick like other pools.
There weren’t enough chairs, but that didn’t matter. We just sat on our towels when we had to get out of the pool.
We enjoyed some fun snacks during the safety check (or adult swim, I wasn’t sure what it was). Allie cried when we had to get out of the pool, but she didn’t mind when we got some snacks to help pass the time. And just look how she poses!
I love this picture of Allie, but some silly person (Mama!) put her finger in the corner! She really enjoyed that cookie.
Allie was really excited to go back in the pool and just ran off when it was OK to go back in.
Allie had fun jumping like in the Olympics!
But every swim must come to an end. We grabbed some sandwiches for lunch and figured Allie would go right to sleep for her nap. Well, an hour later she was asleep. I didn’t think she would go to sleep… its always the hardest when she’s the most tired!
