Life as we know it

Our family adventures

Sunset

Friday night, our last night at the beach, we played in the sand at sunset. It was cloudy though, so not as good pictures as the sunset on Wednesday, but still good!

I took a few pictures on the street side of the condo. That’s a long view.

In spite of the clouds, it was still pretty!

We got out bubbles and had fun blowing and popping.

There was some fun frisbee going on.

We took some family pictures with the waves and the sunset!

Allie and I found a bunch of sea shells. And then after it was dark, we couldn’t find them to take them with us 😦

We didn’t swim, but we sure got covered with sand! After it was dark we got our flashlights out and looked for crabs. We’d seen lots of people out with flashlights each night and wanted to try it ourselves.
261
Allie was really good at spotting the crabs, but we didn’t catch any. They’re really small and fast and we didn’t really have proper equipment. It was fine with me because we weren’t going to keep them!

After we were done with the crabs we went in and got everyone bathed and then had a late dinner of leftovers and other food we had left in the condo.

Saturday morning, I woke up early again and Doug got up a little after me. We sat on our balcony for one last time and watched rain come in.

The waves were the highest of the week as the rain was coming in. They have colored flags to designate the watch conditions and they were yellow all week for medium hazard. They were red on Saturday for high hazard.

I just love those colors!

It rained pretty hard for awhile.

We had done some cleaning and organizing on Friday night, but Saturday morning we had to get into high gear to get all packed and cleaned up by time we had to check out at 10 a.m. We also had to do breakfast… which took awhile when multi-tasking that with cleaning and packing. There were luggage carts we had used to unload the car, but since everyone was checking out at the same time, no carts were available. Poor Doug had to make three or four trips from the 18th floor to our car to load. It was not fun for him.
288
While he loaded, I walked around and around cleaning and finding things we’d have otherwise forgotten. To check out we had to start the dishwasher and empty the trash. The trash was a bit bigger job than expected! We also tried to sweep up and generally clean the kitchen and stuff.

The just like that, we were loaded and cleaned and it was time to go. Of course I had to take one last picture! We took a couple of me and the kids, but my camera lens fogged up and they didn’t turn out well and we were in a hurry. We didn’t even get to go down on the beach one more time! I thought about going… but then thought about cleaning off the sand and then going home in it. Just like that, after we sat in traffic awhile to get out of town, including a line at the gas station, we left the beach behind 😦

We’re already talking about planning a beach vacation next year though!
